Minimum Fees for AdoptionListed below are the minimum fees for adopting an animal from our shelter. We have more than likely spent considerably more than this amount caring for your new friend while he or she has been with us -- you are certainly welcome to donate more than the minimum fee and help other homeless animals find their forever home! Dogs | Cats | Birds | Mammals | Reptiles | Barnyard
Dogs
All dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against Distemper, Parvovirus, Rabies (when age appropriate), and Bordatella (kennel cough), microchipped, and treated for fleas and ticks. Puppies receive a Parvovirus test and adult dogs are heartworm tested. Additional vaccines are given as needed.
*Adoption Guarantee Fund dogs are highly-adoptable and therefore have a higher adoption fee. The extra fee will go to build our Adoption Guarantee Fund, which enables us to continue our efforts to find homes for every healthy, adoptable animal in Dane County. Cats
All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against Distemper and Rabies (when age appropriate), microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia (FELV) and ringworm, and treated for fleas, ticks, and ear mites. Cats over 6 months also get tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Additional vaccines are given as needed.
Birds
Small Mammals
All ferrets and rabbits are spayed or neutered. Rats may be spayed or neutered on request for an additional fee.
