YOU Made a Big Difference for the Animals!
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Bark & Wine! It was wonderful to have everyone back at the shelter again, meeting animals, seeing each other, and celebrating the good work we are accomplishing together.
Bark & Wine - By the Numbers:
- 42 volunteers gave their time and energy before, during, and after to create a wonderful event
- 43 businesses and individuals came together to support DCHS through event sponsorships
- 228 auction items were donated by dozens of local businesses and individuals (our largest auction in memory!)
- 321 attendees filled our hallways with laughter and energy throughout the night (nearly 50 more than last year!)
Our rough numbers tell us that we have many reasons to celebrate! Thanks to the many, many auction donors and bidders, we bested our previous record (set just last year) and are thrilled to celebrate our highest auction total ever. We raised almost $36,000 through the auction alone. We were also overwhelmed with gratitude at the donors who came together to offer support, surpassing our $15,000 matching challenge put forward in memory of Tim Walton.
Altogether, Bark & Wine raised just over $150,000 for the animals!
We are so humbled by the generosity we see from all of you. Your support makes all the difference for thousands of local people and animals each year. Thank you!!

The dogs have had their day, and DCHS cats are taking over this year's Bark & Wine!
Our fine felines want to welcome you to the shelter, tell you some happy tales, and show you a night you won’t forget in nine lifetimes! Your support makes a big difference in the lives of thousands of animals, all while enjoying tasty treats by Chef Oscar Villarreal of Migrants and Calliope ice cream. We ask that guests (feline and human) kindly DON'T push your wineglass off the table!
Don’t tell the cats, but we’ll have puppy greeters too!

Matching Challenge
Thanks to a generous $15,000 matching challenge, given in memory of longtime DCHS supporter and friend to the animals Tim Walton, ALL donations given through Bark & Wine will be matched! Thank you to the Walton Family for challenging us all to be our most generous selves for animals in need!
Online Auction
We'll have over 200 items generously donated by local businesses, DCHS volunteers, and other supporters available in our online auction. All proceeds go to provide comfort and care to our animals. Thank you to all of the businesses who have donated items and services to our online auction!
