SNAP: SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

DCHS offers low cost spay and neuter assistance programs for both individuals and rescue groups. If you are in need of assistance for either companion or feral animals, please let us help! Every day is spay day at Dane County Humane Society!

VOLUNTEER AT DCHS

DCHS Receives Maddie's Fund Grant

Maddie’s Fund awarded Dane County Humane Society a first year grant of $297,000 in August, 2008 to increase adoptions and spay/neuter surgeries. As adoption and spay/neuter goals are achieved, Maddie's Fund will provide animal welfare groups and private veterinarians with more than $900,000 to save all of the healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats in Dane County over the next five years.  Click here for more information.

Microchipping Every Day!

Losing a pet can be unexpected and stressful, but microchipping is a solution to ensure happy reunions.  DCHS is pleased to announce that microchipping services will now be available at the shelter during all open hours!  The cost is $30 for dogs and only $15 for cats.  Click here to find out when we are open and where we are located.

Breed Matching Program

Need help finding your new best friend?  DCHS is here to help!  Through our breed matching program, DCHS can notify you when the type of animal you are looking for becomes available for adoption.  If you'd like to learn more or get involved in this exciting new program please click here.

Friday 12:00pm - 7:00pm
Saturday 12:00pm - 5:00pm
Sunday 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Upcoming Events

Garage/Bake Sale - September 5 & 6

Dane County Humane Society and the Mounds Satellite Adoption Centers are having a garage sale / bake sale to raise money for homeless animals.  If you wish to donate treasures you no longer need, or any bake sale items, please contact Stacey Gartman at (608) 838-0413 ext. 171.  All proceeds go directly to help our animals!

CBG, Inc. Golf Outing - September 10

The annual Commercial Brokers Group, Inc. Golf Outing supporting UW Real Estate Scholarships as well as Dane County Humane Society and Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin is almost here!  Play the new tees at The Meadows of Six Mile Creek in Waunakee.  Space is limited; we encourage you to register today.

Dog Jog - September 14

Dogs of all shapes and sizes are getting ready for the 2008 Dog Jog race and walk presented by the UW School of Veterinary Medicine.  You can, too!  Visit the Dog Jog website at www.dogjog.org to get information on registration, donations, and more.  Your participation raises funding and support for the homeless animals of Dane County!

Dogtoberfest - September 27

Save the date! DCHS is once again holding our annual fall Dogtoberfest celebration at Capital Brewery.  In addition to a fun day full of games, contests, auctions, raffles, live entertainment, and of course, dogs and the people who love them (and did we mention the great beer?!)... all proceeds go directly to the homeless animals in our care.

Mobile Adoptions in September

Feline Friends Fund

The Feline Friends Fund provides lifesaving donations directly to the homeless cats at Dane County Humane Society. Help support our efforts to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of cats that come through our doors. Contributions to the Feline Friends Fund support cat adoption programs, spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce chronic overpopulation, as well as outreach and educational efforts to make our community a safer, kinder place for cats. Dane County Humane Society's Animal Medical Services (AMS) provides outstanding medical attention and care to ALL of the homeless animals that come through our doors.  Our latest story is about a wonderful horse named Star who went from neglect to finding a new life (click on the picture to read more).  We depend on your kindhearted donations to make these miracles happen.  To make a contribution, please donate directly to the Help Me Heal fund.
